Start the transaction SXDA. The screen of Data Transfer Workbench (DXW from now on) appears. Any node can be selected or expanded from the left hand side tree menu. On this screen press the Create Project command button.

On the appearing popup window type a Project name and a Description and press the Continue command button.

With the node of the Test Project selected press the Create Sub-project command button.

On the appearing popup window type a Subproject name, a Description and press F4 on the Object Type field to select from a list of available Object Types.

From the appearing list, select the entry described as Standard Material and double click with the mouse.

So, all the attributes of the Subproject are defined. Press the Continue command button.

With the node of Material Master Subproject selected press the Create Run Definition command button.

On the appearing popup window type a Run Definition name and a Description and press the Continue command button.

With the node Material Master Load Run Definition selected press the Create Task command button.

On the appearing popup window type a Task name, a Description and set the Task type as LOA (Load Data) and the Program type DINP (Direct Input). Press the Continue command button.

Now another window appears. Select the Report field, press F4 and from the appearing list of available entries select the Report RMDATIND by double clicking. Check the Task completed w/o errors radio button. Press the Continue command button.

Now the task has been created. Select the menu path Go to Analyze files and data structures.

On the appearing screen fill the fields Object Type, Program Type, Program/method, File Type and File Name fields. The values can be selected from available entries lists appearing by selecting the field and pressing F4 key. Press the Create File with Data command button.

On the appearing screen type the Material Number of a material created manually and leave the other default values unchanged. Press the Execute command button.

From the appearing screen select the Display File command button.

Now a screen appears showing the structures which should be filled and stored in the input file for the data transfer.
We can show any of these structures in detail by double clicking on it. So let us double click on each structure. Let us begin from BGR00.

This structure (BGR00) is the header of the input file. Go back with Back command button, and double click on structure BMM00.

This structure (BMM00) contains the key information of the material. We can write down the names of the fields to be filled with the information available from the Legacy Systems. Go back with Back command button, and double click on structure BMMH1.

This structure (BMMH1) contains the description and other attributes of the material. Here again we write down the names of the fields to be filled from the Legacy Systems. Go back with Back command button.

Start a new SAP session and select transaction SE38. On the Program field type the report name RMDATIND. Press the Execute command button.

On the appearing selection screen leave the default values unchanged and type in the Lock Mode field the letter N (No Lock). Press the Save command button.

On the screen of Variants type a Variant name and a description. Press the Save command button, and leave the transaction SE38 with repeated clicks of Back command button.

Back to the DXW screen select the node Material Master Load Run Definition. Select the menu path Edit -> Run -> Start.

A confirmation is required to start run. Press the Continue command button on the popup window.

So the Direct Input Administration Screen appears. Press the Execute command button.

On the appearing screen press the command button Define Job.

On the Job Definition screen press the command button New Entries.

On the New Entries screen type a Name of a Direct Input Job and a Description. Move to the right with the scroll bar.

Type the program name RMDATIND and the name of the Variant created previously TEST MM LOAD. Press the Save command button and press the Back command button twice to return to the Direct Input Administration screen.

On the Direct Input Administration screen press the Start new Job command button. On the appearing popup window type a Name of the DI job, the Target system and a User name. (Target System and User name can be selected from available entries lists, which come up with field selection and F4 key). Press the Check command button and the Start job Command button.

Specify the print parameters on the appearing popup window and press the Continue command button.

On the appearing Start Time popup window press the Immediate command button the Check command button and the Save command button.

The Direct Input Administration screen has a list with a line of the Job Started. Press the Update command button a few times if the data are few and the program will end soon.

After completion the Direct Input Administration screen shows the status of the Job as completed. We can select the checkbox on the left of a job and press the Job Log command button to check the log of the selected Job line. Leave the Direct Input Administration screen with Back command button.

When the DXW screen is reached a popup window appears prompting the user to decide on the Task Status. Select Task completed without errors and press the Continue command button.

So the DXW screen shows one successful run of the Run Definition.
